Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo could share the same pitch as teammates for the first time, following reports that they have been invited to Carlos Tevez’s farewell match in December.
Tevez is planning the star-studded farewell at La Bombonera, Boca Juniors’ home, with around 60 former teammates and football personalities expected to be invited. Reports from Argentina suggest Messi and Ronaldo are among the high-profile names under consideration for the occasion.
The proposed reunion would be historic, as Messi and Ronaldo have never played for the same team in their professional careers. The pair dominated world football for more than a decade, representing Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.
Tevez has a unique connection with both players, having played alongside Messi for Argentina and Ronaldo at Manchester United. He is reportedly hoping to bring the two icons together for the farewell, although their attendance has not yet been officially confirmed.
Tevez retired from competitive football in 2022 after a decorated career that included spells with Boca Juniors, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus. A meeting between Messi and Ronaldo in the same team would provide a fitting spectacle for his long-awaited farewell.
