Nigeria’s national under-15 boys football team, the Future Eagles, have registered two straight draws in their opening fixtures at the ongoing FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan. Across both games, the Nigerian team scored five goals and conceded five, according to The Trumpet Newspaper Nigeria.

The squad kicked off their campaign on Saturday with an eventful 3-3 draw against South Sudan. Nigeria fought back from behind on two occasions before seizing the lead, only to concede an equaliser less than a minute before the match ended. Wisdom Boniface and team captain Timothy Ogar struck in the first half to level the scoring, while Wisdom Oche added a goal in the second period to put the team ahead before South Sudan equalised.

On Sunday, the Future Eagles faced Jordan in another tightly contested encounter that ended 2-2. Following a goalless opening half, Ogar scored in the second period to give Nigeria the advantage. Jordan quickly equalised within five minutes and soon went ahead, but Abdulrazak Muftau delivered an equaliser with the final kick of the match to salvage a point for Nigeria.

The inaugural competition is being played under an eight-a-side structure, with fixtures running for two 20-minute halves. Outcomes from the ongoing group phase will determine the specific tiers where participating teams will compete in the second round, set for October 28 and October 29.

The Future Eagles are scheduled to return to the pitch on Sunday evening for a clash with The Gambia. They will then take on Cyprus early on Monday morning, followed by another fixture against Pakistan later that afternoon, with the overall tier finals set for Friday, October 30.
