Wizkid’s Son Champz Drops ‘Groove’, Peller Reacts Amid Fan Questions

Wizkid’s first son, Champz, has released his new single “Groove,” marking another step in the young rapper’s developing music career.

Released on Friday, September 25, 2026, the track is now available across major streaming platforms. Champz announced the release ahead of its arrival, teasing fans with a snippet of the song and the line, “Yeah I’m quite young / quiet young but I got an old soul.”

Champz, whose full name is Boluwatife Ayodeji Balogun, continues to establish his own identity as a young rapper.

On “Groove,” he delivers laid-back flows, conversational lyrics and catchy hooks. The song also references producer BG, with Champz highlighting their close connection in the lyrics.

The release follows his earlier projects Champion’s Arrival, released in 2025, and Young Poet, which arrived in 2026. Apple Music currently lists “Groove” as Champz’s latest release, dated September 25, 2026.

While fans were discussing the new record, popular Nigerian streamer Peller also caught attention after reacting to Champz’s announcement with a clapping GIF.

The seemingly supportive reaction quickly became a talking point among fans because Peller has publicly shown support for Ice King Ochacho, another young artist whom some online discussions have positioned alongside Champz.

Some followers therefore questioned Peller’s stance, while others interpreted his reaction simply as support for a young artist’s new release.

The conversation comes shortly after Peller generated another round of discussion when he compared streaming figures associated with Ice King and Champz during a livestream before quickly stressing that there was “no competition.”

Champz began developing his interest in music at a young age and officially entered the music scene with Champion’s Arrival in November 2025. He followed it with Young Poet in March 2026.

With “Groove,” the young rapper is continuing to release music while gradually carving out a profile separate from his father’s enormous Afrobeats legacy.
