The Nigeria Computer Society, Lagos State Chapter, has celebrated outstanding students and university scholars for their high academic performance and technical ingenuity. The recognition came during the 17th NCS Lagos Chapter Information Technology Summit and Awards, staged at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference Centre in Ikeja.

According to a report by Punch, the presentation covered several categories, including top scores in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, university final-year projects, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

In the SIDMACH Prize for the top 2025 WAEC performers in Lagos State, Joshua Mike-Nnaji of Grace High School, Gbagada, took first position. Esther Sikuade and Estesoghena Itapei, both representing The Lagoon School in Lekki, secured the second and third spots respectively.

Several other prizes were handed out across different academic levels. The Mrs Veronica Ola Owolabi IT Champs Award honoured primary and secondary pupils, with Aishat Akintunde of Platform Schools winning the upper primary section and Oluwanifemi Ogunkunle, also of Platform Schools, finishing top in the junior secondary division. Abdulhameed Ibrahim from Platform Global Academy claimed the first position in the senior secondary category.

For tech development, Lagos State Model Senior College, Meiran, clinched the Salako Maven AI and Robotics Prize. Meanwhile, the Don Etiebet Innovative Prize for standout university final-year IT projects went to David Dada of the University of Lagos, with Tijani Sheu of Lagos State University taking second place.

Addressing the audience, NCS Lagos State Chairman Adesina Adewale explained that the initiative seeks to discover and motivate young talent capable of driving the nation's digital growth. He stressed that a sustainable digital economy relies directly on the people who power it.

Adewale also noted that the society has maintained direct collaborations with tertiary institutions such as the University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology, and Lagos State University of Education. He revealed upcoming plans to host an e-learning conference and a stakeholders' forum to further connect educators, tech experts, and policymakers.
