Jodie Turner-Smith Named in Lawsuit Over Brother’s Alleged Sexual Misconduct and Drug Dealing

Actress Jodie Turner-Smith has been named as a defendant in a civil lawsuit involving her brother, Richard Mark Anthony Smith, who three women accuse of sexual misconduct, drug dealing and other alleged wrongdoing.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on September 24, 2026, with the three women identified as Jane Doe plaintiffs. According to court documents reviewed by multiple entertainment publications, the women allege that Richard Smith exposed them to narcotics, firearms and sexual activity and, in separate allegations, pressured or forced them into unwanted sexual conduct and drug-related activities.

Allegations Against Richard Smith

The three plaintiffs have made separate allegations against Turner-Smith’s brother.

One woman alleges that she was invited to a Los Angeles residence in 2024, where she encountered drugs, firearms and sexual activity. She claims Smith later isolated her in a bedroom, pressured her to consume drugs and attempted to involve her in unwanted sexual activity.

Another plaintiff alleges that she lived with Smith and witnessed what she described as drug use, drug sales or distribution, sexual parties and firearms. She also alleges that Smith pressured her to participate in drug-related activities and that she experienced coercive and controlling behavior.

A third woman alleges that Smith offered her housing in exchange for sex or other benefits and claims she was subjected to unwanted sexual activity and pressure to use or sell drugs.

The allegations have not been established as facts in court.

Why Jodie Turner-Smith Is Named

The claims against Jodie Turner-Smith are separate from the allegations of direct sexual misconduct against her brother.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs allege that Turner-Smith provided or made available housing, transportation, financial assistance and other resources to Smith despite allegedly knowing about dangers associated with his behavior.

One plaintiff further alleges that Smith told her Turner-Smith supported him financially, paid his bills and provided or gifted him an Audi that he allegedly used to transport packages that supposedly contained narcotics.

The complaint names Turner-Smith in claims including negligence, negligence per se, child endangerment and aiding and abetting. The filing specifically distinguishes the allegations against her from those concerning her brother’s alleged direct conduct.

Turner-Smith Denies the Allegations

Turner-Smith has strongly denied the accusations through her representative.

In a statement to PEOPLE and other outlets, her representative described the lawsuit as “fictional” and said the claims against the actress are not true. The representative also accused the person behind the lawsuit of harassing Turner-Smith and characterized the filing as an abuse of the legal system.

The plaintiffs, meanwhile, are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and other remedies and have requested a jury trial.

A Civil Case Still in Its Early Stages

The lawsuit is currently an allegation-based civil proceeding. No court has determined that the allegations against Richard Smith or Turner-Smith are true, and Turner-Smith has expressly denied wrongdoing.
