Veteran media leader and BusinessDay co-founder Frank Aigbogun has reached a major milestone as he celebrated his 70th birthday on November 1, 2026. The publisher received glowing tributes highlighting his decades of work in strengthening Nigeria's business journalism and institutional leadership.
According to a tribute published by Punch, Aigbogun's media journey began in 1982 at The Guardian. He later worked as a correspondent for the Associated Press and spent productive years at Vanguard, where he took on significant editorial responsibilities before venturing into media entrepreneurship.
In 2001, Aigbogun co-founded BusinessDay to provide dedicated coverage of financial markets, corporate governance, economic reporting, and public policy. The publication has since grown into a primary reference point for business intelligence, helping corporate leaders, investors, and policymakers understand critical economic decisions.
Beyond running a newsroom, Aigbogun has played an active part in shaping broader policy discussions in Nigeria. He was an active member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group for 19 years, spending a decade serving on its board to encourage dialogue between government and the private sector.
His long-standing contributions earned him formal recognition from the Nigerian Economic Summit Group in October 2026. Outside policy advocacy, he also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Impact Investors Foundation, supporting initiatives that connect business investment to social impact.
The tribute also spotlighted his legacy in developing professional talent, noting that many reporters, analysts, and editors have built strong careers through his media platform. His work reflects how independent business reporting supports accountability and transparent economic governance across the country.
