Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has officially launched the 2026 edition of the All-Africa women's golf championship in the nation's capital, Abuja.
The continental sporting gathering brings together leading female golfers from across Africa to contest for top honours on the course. The tournament, formally known as the All-Africa Challenge Trophy, will see competitors go head-to-head throughout the week.
According to Premium Times, the prestigious golf event began on Tuesday and is scheduled to run until Saturday, 7 November 2026.
Nigeria is hosting the event as part of efforts to support continental sports and spotlight the growing impact of women in athletics. The All-Africa Challenge Trophy remains one of the premier amateur golf tournaments for women on the continent, having served as a proving ground for top female talents across different member nations over several decades.
The arrival of the championship in Abuja offers local golf enthusiasts a chance to follow international golf directly on home soil. Spectators will watch players navigate the fairways as the tournament builds toward the final rounds this weekend.
Further matches and title deciders will take place over the coming days until the closing ceremonies on 7 November, where winners will be crowned.
