Olujuwon Obasanjo, the son of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has taken up a political appointment to work towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.
He announced his backing during a tour of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement headquarters in Abuja, where he assumed duties as the organisation's Special Adviser on Political Affairs, according to Punch. The movement's national coordinator, Sunday Asuku, officially received him at the national office.
Speaking during the visit, Olujuwon pointed out that the current government has achieved notable progress in infrastructure development, regular salary payments, and opening up investment opportunities. He stressed that youth participation is vital to maintain these policies and guarantee continuity in national governance.
He said, "President Tinubu has started on a good note, making it necessary for Nigerians, particularly young people, to join hands to sustain the ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance."
Addressing questions about his household's stance, Olujuwon explained that he joined the All Progressives Congress in 2014. He noted that members of his family maintain different political allegiances without friction, explaining that they are permitted to hold independent views and seek their own interests without any hostility.
Receiving the new appointee, Asuku noted that Olujuwon brings valuable experience in leadership, governance, and political strategy. He said the group is convinced that his background in grassroots engagement will boost the organisation's outreach efforts across the country.
The move comes at a time when political organisations and civic groups are beginning nationwide mobilisations to align their platforms ahead of the next general election cycle.
