Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the release of ₦4.6 billion as the initial phase of compensation for people whose properties are affected by the ongoing Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project.

The governor shared the update on Friday while speaking with affected landowners and property owners along the corridor. According to a report by Punch, the money will go straight into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, with transfers starting right away.

Makinde explained that the state government had finalised all official procedures needed to disburse the funds without delay. He told the gathered residents that they should expect credit notifications in their accounts between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Addressing ongoing worries from community members, the governor also affirmed that the building setback for developed areas along the route remains set at 75 metres. He noted that the state plans to put up a perimeter fence along the corridor to ensure maximum safety for local residents.

Makinde clarified that anyone whose building stands beyond the 75-metre margin has nothing to worry about and can carry on with their everyday lives. He cautioned the public against listening to misleading rumours and insisted that his administration was determined to protect the welfare of the people.

The governor stated that delivering on the compensation before the close of the month was a pledge he made to the citizens, which prompted him to meet directly with them. He pointed out that the road project remains a vital infrastructure plan designed to improve transport links, boost the local economy, and open up new development zones across Oyo State.

Representatives of the affected property owners, including Ahmed Abiodun, Kayode Oyejobi, Risikat Raji, and Banke Adeyanju, thanked the governor for fulfilling his promise on the payments and retaining the 75-metre boundary for developed sites. They expressed gratitude for the state's intervention and promised their backing for the current administration.
