Governor Seyi Makinde's administration in Oyo State has been hit by a fresh round of departures after three top officials stepped down from their posts on Monday, November 2, 2026.

The officials who tendered their resignations include the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Ojo; the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Adegbola Oyeleke; and Sunday Falana, an executive member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), according to The Trumpet Newspaper Nigeria.

Among the trio, Oyeleke provided the most direct explanation for walking away. The former council chairman and two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly explained in his resignation letter that he felt uncomfortable with the current working conditions in the government. He noted that the existing atmosphere made it tough for him to deliver on the expectations of his constituents, though he still expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for the chance to serve.

Meanwhile, Ojo, who comes from Ago-Are in Atisbo Local Government Area, submitted his immediate resignation through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde. In his letter, Ojo referred back to his appointment on June 22, 2026, and thanked the governor for the opportunity, without revealing why he decided to quit.

Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, also stepped down from his role at OYSIEC with immediate effect through a letter sent to the Chief of Staff. He did not provide a specific reason for leaving, but termed his tenure on the electoral board a worthwhile experience.

These departures happen at a critical time for the state electoral body, which is getting ready to conduct local council polls across Oyo State's 33 local government areas on December 29, 2026. OYSIEC had only recently published its final list of contestants on October 27.

The latest exits follow earlier departures from the administration, such as former Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi and former Due Process Office Director-General Tara Adefope. Following those changes, Makinde replaced Ogunwuyi with Akinwole Akinwole, while Aderonke Adedayo took over the Due Process Office.
