The Federal Government has launched a $50 million seed fund dedicated to supporting emerging businesses across the country, according to LEADERSHIP Newspapers.
The intervention is designed to provide early-stage capital for local entrepreneurs, helping innovators navigate the initial financial bottlenecks that often stall promising ventures. It represents a substantial boost for the domestic startup ecosystem, which has continued to rely heavily on private venture capital and foreign investments.
Nigeria has grown into one of Africa’s most vibrant technology and enterprise hubs, producing innovative companies in financial technology, logistics, entertainment, and digital services. Despite this growth, many small businesses and tech creators continue to struggle with securing the early financing required to build prototypes and scale their operations.
The introduction of the public fund aims to bridge this financing gap and encourage more sustainable business growth within the country's digital sector. With access to early capital, more young Nigerians are expected to translate tech solutions into viable, employment-generating enterprises.
Further operational guidelines on application processes, eligibility criteria, and fund disbursement channels are expected to guide how founders can access the new package.
