Ten abducted victims have regained their freedom following a series of bandit attacks that affected eight communities in Taraba State.
The armed gangs have brought persistent trouble to the affected settlements, creating tension among local residents. Details regarding the exact circumstances of the captives' release remain limited, but relief has followed the return of the ten individuals.
According to a report by Premium Times, a local community leader revealed that the bandits responsible for the assaults launch their operations from hideouts situated inside forests in neighbouring Plateau State. The criminal elements cross the border between the two states to carry out their raids before retreating into the thick tree cover.
The cross-border movement has made security management difficult in the border corridors of North Central and North East Nigeria. Plateau and Taraba share extensive boundary lines marked by rugged terrain and thick forest reserves, which criminal groups often exploit to evade law enforcement patrols.
