Nigeria and the Kingdom of Lesotho have agreed to build stronger working relations regarding border management, aiming to improve regional trade and secure travel between both African nations.
The bilateral move focuses on coordinating the activities of relevant border agencies so that travelers and lawful goods can cross frontiers with fewer bottlenecks, according to a report by Peoples Gazette.
Speaking on the initiative, an official identified as Ms Tsietsi pointed out that the relevant government agencies are collaborating to make the movement of individuals and cargo smoother. Both countries see better administrative coordination as an essential step toward boosting economic links and strengthening cross-border oversight.
Lesotho, a landlocked nation located within southern Africa, shares diplomatic and multilateral connections with Nigeria through organizations such as the African Union and the Commonwealth. Nigeria, situated in West Africa, has frequently engaged with other regional partners to address customs challenges, improve security, and expand intra-African commerce under continental agreements.
By sharing operational experience and refining border protocols, both administrations are seeking to minimize delays for cross-border logistics while maintaining appropriate regulatory checks. Further details regarding specific technical exchanges and operational agreements between the two governments are expected as engagements continue.
