Nollywood star and filmmaker Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has threatened legal action against social media users, content creators, and bloggers spreading defamatory posts about her.

Her legal team, Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, issued a formal cease-and-desist notice dated November 5, 2026. Abraham posted the document on her X account, cautioning members of the public against circulating unverified claims that undermine her image and character, according to Punch.

The document, signed by lawyer Tope Salami, claimed that certain individuals were orchestrating false narratives to hurt Abraham’s goodwill and personal integrity. The legal team noted that some of these actions were being executed by known persons hiding behind sponsored individuals. However, the legal notice did not name any suspects or specify the exact statements in dispute.

The lawyers outlined strict demands for the public, insisting that offenders immediately stop posting, resharing, or endorsing malicious statements. The notice also directed internet users to pull down existing derogatory posts, videos, and comments, stressing that freedom of speech does not cover slander or cyberbullying.

Salami warned that digital materials, including comments and recordings, could be preserved as evidence. Anyone who continues to publish defamatory remarks after the notice risks formal court proceedings under existing laws.

This is not the first time the veteran filmmaker has taken formal steps to curb online attacks. In 2019, she threatened legal action against actress Liz Anjorin over allegations damaging to her brand. Later in 2024, Abraham filed a petition with the cybercrime unit over online harassment, which resulted in the arrest of a social media user named Big Ayo.

Abraham entered the Nigerian movie industry in the early 2000s and has since established herself as an A-list cinema powerhouse. She is widely known for leading the hit Alakada comedy franchise, as well as directing and starring in box-office hits like Elevator Baby, The Prophetess, and Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper.

The latest legal warning comes as Abraham ramps up publicity for her forthcoming movie, Bestie, which is scheduled for cinema release on December 16, 2026. The upcoming title arrives after her film Oversabi Aunty crossed the ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office.
