Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping a close watch on Bournemouth attacker Marcus Tavernier ahead of the January transfer window, according to Sports Mole.
The 27-year-old forward has enjoyed a bright start to the current campaign, scoring six goals in 12 matches for the Cherries under manager Marco Rose. His fine displays across the pitch have now placed him firmly on the radar of some of the league's top sides.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly a big admirer of the former Middlesbrough player, valuing his ability to play across the attack, in midfield, and at wing-back. The Gunners have gathered comprehensive scouting information on Tavernier as they look to strengthen options on their left flank. Reports also indicate Arsenal are tracking his Bournemouth teammates, teenage talent Eli Junior Kroupi and midfielder Alex Scott.
Manchester United are likewise stepping up their interest ahead of the winter market. The club's technical director, Jason Wilcox, has reportedly directed scouts to assess Tavernier as the Old Trafford outfit look to bring in a forward and a left-back. However, United's plans could be affected by the uncertain future of manager Michael Carrick, who is currently facing pressure.
Other English clubs have also shown an interest in the player over recent months. Newcastle United have tracked Tavernier for a long time and share a connection with his family, as his brother James previously featured for the side. Tottenham Hotspur also weighed up a move during the previous summer window before deciding against a formal bid.
Prising Tavernier away from Bournemouth will not come cheap. The English forward signed a lucrative long-term contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2029, meaning any interested buyer will need to present a substantial offer to convince Bournemouth to sell in the middle of the season.
