Manchester City's domestic campaign has suffered another major blow after falling to a third consecutive defeat in the English Premier League, according to Vanguard News.
The reigning champions were undone by a double from forward Liam Delap, whose goals secured an important victory against his former club and deepened the troubles facing Pep Guardiola's squad.
The result continues an uncharacteristic slump for Manchester City, who have now dropped maximum points across three successive league matches. Delap's two-goal performance proved decisive on the pitch, ensuring City left empty-handed once again as their rivals look to capitalise in the title race.
City came into this season as dominant title contenders after securing four consecutive English top-flight crowns under Guardiola. However, back-to-back losses in the league have rarely been seen during the manager's tenure, making this latest downturn a genuine shock to supporters and analysts alike.
Delap, a product of City's own youth academy who developed through their Elite Development Squad before moving on to pursue regular senior football, proved to be the ultimate thorn in the side of his old team. His clinical finishing exposed defensive gaps in City's setup on the night.
The defeat leaves Manchester City facing serious questions about their form and consistency as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures across domestic and European competitions. Guardiola and his players will now need to regroup quickly to stop the rot and avoid losing further ground in the Premier League standings.
