The LSU women's basketball team made NCAA Division I history on Thursday night after sweeping past Texas Southern with a massive 131-22 win at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

The 109-point blowout set a new all-time Division I record for the largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent, according to ESPN. It was also the second straight game in which head coach Kim Mulkey’s side broke the school's own margin of victory mark.

Texas Southern briefly took a 3-2 lead early in the first quarter through a Bailey Burns three-pointer, but LSU quickly took control. MiLaysia Fulwiley put LSU ahead for good with a jumper at the 7:58 mark, closing the opening frame with a 25-13 lead. From there, the hosts took total control of the contest.

LSU completely locked down Texas Southern on defense, going on an uncontested 39-0 run through the entire second quarter to hold their opponents scoreless. Entering the break with a 65-13 lead, LSU continued their aggressive play, giving up only nine points in the second half. Texas Southern also lost forward Daniela Vallecilla late in the third quarter after she exited with an apparent ankle injury.

Seventeen-year-old freshman forward Anna Minaeva led the scoring for LSU, delivering 21 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Mikaylah Williams scored 20 points, senior point guard Jada Williams contributed 18 points and seven assists, and ZaKiyah Johnson added 17 points. In total, all ten LSU players who took the floor found their way onto the scoresheet, with seven players reaching double figures.

Former LSU star Angel Reese, who was celebrated as the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, was in attendance and received halftime recognition from LSU Athletic Director Verge Ausberry.

LSU will continue their home run at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center when they host McNeese on Tuesday, 10 November.
