The African Export-Import Bank is looking to seal business agreements worth more than $540 million across the continent’s creative sectors during the Creative Africa Nexus Weekend in Lagos, according to Punch.
The bank aims to use the gathering to expand critical financing for African music, movie production, fashion, and other cultural enterprises. This funding push comes as African entertainment continues to gain major international traction, creating a need for formal capital to support local creators and businesses.
The Creative Africa Nexus initiative was set up by Afreximbank to connect African creative talents with investors, commercial partners, and global distribution channels. Through the programme, the financial institution supports the entire value chain of the continent's cultural economy, offering financing packages, trade facilitation, and capacity-building workshops.
Lagos has regularly served as a hub for the continent's entertainment trade, drawing key players in film and music together with financial institutions. The planned multi-million-dollar deals are expected to provide African creatives with the resources needed to scale their businesses and compete effectively on the global stage.
