The family of late veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has revealed the burial arrangements for the movie star, setting his final journey home for December 11, 2026. He will be laid to rest in his hometown of Okai, Eziama, located in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The funeral schedule was officially shared on the late actor's social media page, according to Punch. The activities will commence on Wednesday, November 25, with an evening service of songs in Abuja. That initial memorial will take place at the Family Worship Centre along Idris Gidado Street in Wuye, starting at 5 p.m.
Proceedings will later move to his ancestral home in Imo State. A second service of songs is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, at the family compound in Okai, Eziama. This will be followed the next day, Friday, December 11, by the main funeral service and interment at the same location.
The official statement was signed on behalf of the family by the actor's son, Ebuka Duru, and his sister, Anthonia Chenyi. Paying tribute, the family remembered him as a cherished husband, father, brother, and uncle whose legacy would continue to resonate with all who knew him. They also expressed heartfelt appreciation to friends, colleagues, and fans for their prayers, messages, and overwhelming support during their period of grief.
Before the official release, the household had warned members of the public against circulating fake funeral flyers and unverified details regarding the actor's burial.
Duru passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 57 after battling a brief illness. The beloved screen figure had won hearts across Africa decades ago, particularly following his breakout performance in the 1995 Amaka Igwe classic, Rattlesnake.
