Communications group BHM Holdings has named two women to head its main operating firms starting next year, according to Nigerian Entertainment Today.
Under the new leadership structure, Njideka Akabogu will assume the role of Managing Director at ID Africa. At the same time, Iretomiwa Akintunde-Johnson will step into the position of Managing Director at BHM. Both appointments will take effect on 1 January 2027.
The leadership changes come as the company celebrates 20 years since its founding in Lagos. Group founder Ayeni noted that the promotions were earned through years of dedicated service, performance, and leadership rather than outside recruitment. He stated that the appointments are not merely symbolic, emphasising that strong institutions nurture talent internally by assigning significant responsibilities early.
Akabogu joined ID Africa in 2016 as a community manager. Over the years, she took on multiple roles, eventually serving as the Regional Manager for East Africa. In her new role as Managing Director, she will oversee operations across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania, drawing on her extensive experience in digital media, pan-African market growth, public relations, and content strategy.
Akintunde-Johnson began her journey at BHM in 2018 as an associate consultant. She steadily advanced within the firm to become the Regional Manager for West Africa. Her professional expertise covers corporate communications, legal training, media relations, research, and issues management.
The group noted that these promotions demonstrate its focus on establishing clear pathways for employees to move from entry and mid-level positions to top executive roles across its businesses.
