The City Boy Movement has inaugurated new ward executives across the Lagos West 1 Senatorial District, directing them to lead polling-unit mobilisation and gather voter records ahead of future elections. The political group, which supports President Bola Tinubu, announced that this step marks the completion of its grassroots network throughout Lagos State.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday at Marcelina’s Place in Ikeja, bringing together lawmakers, local council leaders, and party figures from 18 local government areas and local council development areas. According to Punch, leaders of the All Progressives Congress-backed organisation instructed the newly installed officers to move away from mere rallies and set up a solid operational network.
Temitope Adedeji, the movement's Deputy Director-General in Lagos and lawmaker representing Ifako/Ijaiye Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, stressed the need for adequate data. He noted that the team must ensure active representatives are stationed at every single polling unit in the district, which he described as a crucial base for the president.
The Director-General of the group in Lagos and Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Moyosore Ogunlewe, stated that the ward structure completes the organisation from top to bottom. He charged the officials to visit markets and community gatherings, help young people secure their Permanent Voter Cards, and actively counter fake news and misinformation regarding government activities.
Local council chairmen at the event also urged members to highlight administration milestones to the public. Moyosore Adebanjo, the Coordinator for Lagos West 1 and Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, pointed to the lack of fuel queues and university lecturers' strikes as positive signs, crediting local government reforms with boosting council funding for roads and social programmes.
Ladi Ajomale, the legal adviser for the movement in Lagos, advised officials to publicise major infrastructure works, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, the Third Mainland Bridge repairs, and the planned Badagry-Sokoto Road. Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo, revealed that an application has been developed to track and share the president’s activities, while calling for total backing for all party candidates, including Lagos governorship candidate Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
State Coordinator Sesi Whighan closed the gathering by urging all participants to deliver the campaign's message deep into their respective communities.
