Abia State Governor Alex Otti has assured the incoming Commandant of the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance, Owerrinta, Commodore Emmanuel Onu, of continued partnership and support from the state government.
Governor Otti gave this assurance on Thursday while hosting both the new commandant and the outgoing head of the institution, Commodore B.U. Quadri, at his office in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area, according to Punch.
Otti praised Quadri for his professionalism and service during his 19 months in the state, noting that his inputs during monthly Security Council meetings helped strengthen Abia's security network. The governor encouraged Onu to build upon what his predecessor accomplished and aim for even higher milestones.
Speaking during the visit, Otti told Onu that the state expects him to perform excellently, remarking that bright minds always desire their successors to achieve greater feats. He also told the incoming commandant that he could count on steady cooperation from the state, describing security as a shared responsibility across all agencies.
Quadri thanked the governor for the collaboration shown to the naval college throughout his stay in Abia State. Providing further context on the change of leadership, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, retired Commander MacDonald Uba, explained that Quadri's 19-month stay aligned with the usual navy posting window of 18 to 24 months.
In his response, Commodore Onu thanked Governor Otti for the warm welcome and expressed his readiness to preserve and improve upon the achievements recorded by Quadri at the college.
