Barcelona captain Raphinha has stated that the team's achievements will always matter more to him than picking up personal accolades.
Speaking about his mindset following talk around the Ballon d'Or, the Brazilian forward explained that he is focused entirely on delivering results on the pitch for his side, according to Punch. He noted that he has always prioritised the goals of the team he represents over any individual honours.
The comments followed his decision to commit his long-term future to the Catalan side by penning a contract extension that runs until 2030. Raphinha stated that he takes pride in the agreement and hopes his physical condition allows him to wrap up his playing days at Barcelona.
The attacker has been on a sharp scoring run this term, netting 15 goals across his opening 10 La Liga matches. Even with his strong performances generating discussions about personal awards, the Brazilian insists his eyes remain set on team silverwares.
Raphinha also poured cold water on suggestions of an internal rivalry with young teammate Lamine Yamal. He shared that he wants the teenager to post the best numbers possible and win everything with Barcelona, adding that he would be thrilled to see Yamal lift 10 Ballon d’Or titles.
Looking ahead at his targets with the Spanish giants, Raphinha emphasised his desire to lift every trophy on offer, highlighting the UEFA Champions League as a major objective.
