Political activist Timi Frank has issued a strong warning to President Bola Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission over the conduct of the upcoming 2027 general elections. He stated clearly that Nigerians will not tolerate any attempt to manipulate or rig the polls, according to The Guardian.

Frank's caution comes amid heightened public scrutiny regarding the preparations for the general elections. The former political party chieftain insisted that the electoral umpire and the federal government must ensure a transparent and credible process that truly reflects the will of voters nationwide.

At the same time, the Independent National Electoral Commission has been attending to disputes regarding the candidates lined up for the 2027 race. The commission carried out a review of petitions submitted regarding its candidate list, making key decisions on who qualifies to contest.

Following the review, the electoral body cleared Pantami to contest while rejecting a complaint brought forward by Adebutu. Addressing the outcome of the process, the commission explained that it approved the inclusion of candidates and political parties only in situations where the submitted petitions showed genuine merit.

The political atmosphere in Nigeria is already gathering momentum as politicians, parties, and civil society groups prepare for the 2027 vote. INEC remains under public pressure to build trust and show firmness in handling candidate disputes, party nominations, and overall election logistics ahead of the polls.
