Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a South African woman after she was found in possession of 36.65 kilograms of cocaine. A car dealer based in Lagos was also apprehended in connection with the operations, according to Premium Times Nigeria.
The anti-narcotics agency intercepted the substantial illicit cargo as part of its ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking across the country's borders and international transit hubs. The interception marks another significant cocaine seizure linked to international transit routes connecting southern Africa and Nigeria.
The arrest of the Lagos-based automobile dealer highlights the ongoing scrutiny placed on local networks suspected of facilitating the movement, financing, or distribution of illicit substances.
The NDLEA routinely monitors entry ports, major commercial hubs, and inter-state corridors to disrupt cross-border syndicates seeking to smuggle high-value narcotics into or out of the country.
