Nigeria's U-17 women's national team, the Flamingos, are set to chase history on Saturday night as they face Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Team captain Harmony Chidi noted that the entire squad is motivated to lift the trophy and give the country a moment to cherish.

The decisive showdown will take place at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Pitch 4, in Rabat, Morocco. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm Nigerian time, according to Daily Post Nigeria.

This fixture marks the first time both nations will play each other at this tournament level. Head coach Akeem Busari and his players are pursuing Nigeria's maiden title in the competition, whereas their Asian opponents are hunting for a second championship victory.

Speaking about the upcoming encounter, Chidi expressed how meaningful the journey has been for the squad and highlighted their collective hunger to complete the mission. She noted that getting to this stage was a long-held ambition for the group.

"Reaching the final is a very big thing; it's a great thing, and it's something that we have dreamed of. [Winning] would be something myself, my country, my teammates, our coaches, and everybody would be proud of," Chidi stated in an interview with FIFA.

Nigerian football supporters across the country are eager to see if the young squad can deliver a historic performance and bring the silverware back home tonight.
