A 27-year-old lady, Nancy Chidinma, has appealed to the public for financial support of N7 million to undergo urgent surgery and post-operative care for an aggressive keloid condition. She shared her plea on social media platform X, explaining that the ailment has caused her severe physical pain and disrupted her daily life.

According to a report by Punch, Chidinma revealed that her struggle began at the age of two after an improper ear piercing. Over the years, she has undergone numerous surgical procedures in both public and private hospitals, as well as two years of cryotherapy, but the growth kept returning.

The pain from the condition has become increasingly difficult to bear. Chidinma stated that she frequently takes painkillers to cope and struggles to sleep at night due to recurring abscesses and extreme discomfort. The ailment has also kept her at home since she finished her National Youth Service Corps programme, preventing her from taking up employment opportunities or running her business.

Her previous operation took place in April 2025, but the keloid returned rapidly within one year and seven months. Seeking advanced help, she visited the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital earlier this year, though an initial procedure set for 11 September was delayed due to industrial action.

Medical specialists at the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit of LASUTH advised that she would need excisional surgery followed by two radiotherapy sessions, along with chemotherapy and further care to prevent another recurrence. A hospital referral letter dated 5 November 2026 directed her to the Nuclear Medicine Department of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for additional management.

Chidinma calculated the entire medical process at N8.2 million, which includes N5 million for two radiotherapy sessions at LUTH, N1.2 million for surgery, and N2 million for chemotherapy and recovery care. Having already gathered the N1.2 million needed for the surgery itself, she requires N7 million to complete the treatment.

She noted that LASUTH has fixed 19 November 2026 for her final consultation ahead of the procedure. She pleaded with kind-hearted individuals to assist her with any amount to enable her to complete the medical treatment and reclaim her life.
