Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile and social media activist VeryDarkMan have landed in a fresh online dispute following the release of verses on a collaboration titled Inferno. The friction started when listeners noticed a crude line delivered by Zlatan mentioning the name Vincent, according to The Trumpet Newspaper Nigeria.
The reference immediately sparked speculation among fans that the rapper was taking a swipe at the activist, whose real name is Vincent Martins Otse. The track is a collaboration featuring singer Peruzzi, Zlatan, and rising artist Shoday. Zlatan himself has not confirmed whether the line was meant for the commentator.
VeryDarkMan did not hold back in his response, going online to taunt Zlatan over his music career and personal milestones. He questioned whether the new release could hold the top spot on Apple Music for an entire month, claiming the rapper used his recent wedding ceremony simply to generate publicity for his album.
"Wetin go pain me be say if this your song no do number 1 for Apple Music for one month. Person wey do a whole wedding because he won promote him album, album no blow, wedding no blow," VeryDarkMan said. He also argued that no blog covering the wedding managed to pull up to 5,000 comments.
The exchange quickly triggered heated reactions across social media platform X. Some fans defended Zlatan, pointing out that Inferno is Peruzzi's song where Zlatan only contributed a guest verse, while accusing VeryDarkMan of chasing clout with celebrities. Other observers warned that the rapper should prepare for further friction if he chose to target the activist in his music.
Zlatan, the Zanku Records boss known for hit songs like Cash App and his breakout collaboration Killin Dem, married his partner Davita Lamai in late October 2026. Neither the rapper nor Peruzzi has issued an official statement addressing VeryDarkMan's comments.
