Frank Lampard is set to take centre stage on Friday night as he leads Coventry City to face his former side Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The clash marks his first visit back since leaving Merseyside, where he previously helped Everton avoid relegation in 2022 before departing a year later during another difficult spell.
The match comes as David Moyes has guided Everton up to seventh place in the Premier League table following a 1-0 away victory against Newcastle on Monday. Moyes will still be without Jack Grealish because of a recent disciplinary breach, though the manager confirmed the attacker would return to team activities soon, according to The Guardian.
Coventry enter the Friday encounter having claimed three victories from their last five league fixtures. However, they will face a defensively solid Everton squad looking to maintain their momentum on home soil.
Elsewhere, pressure is building on managers across the division heading into Matchweek 10. At Nottingham Forest, Oliver Glasner is under intense scrutiny with the club sitting in 19th position with only six points from nine games. Forest host reigning contenders Manchester City this weekend after a defeat to Brentford left the Austrian manager calling on his squad to buy into his setup.
At the top of the table, league leaders Arsenal host Hull City on Saturday. Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi is hoping to make his first Premier League start of the campaign after starting during midweek European action against Slavia Prague, following the rise of Myles Lewis-Skelly and the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes.
Other notable fixtures include Fulham hosting Matthias Jaissle's struggling Newcastle side at Craven Cottage, while Leeds United take on Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham team at Elland Road.
