Manchester United winger Shea Lacey is set to be handed his full Premier League debut this Sunday when the Red Devils face Aston Villa in a crucial league clash, according to talkSPORT.
The 19-year-old is expected to step into the starting lineup on the right wing, taking the place of Amad Diallo. The anticipated promotion comes after the youngster played an important role off the bench during United's midweek Champions League win against Italian side Roma.
Lacey came on for Diallo in the second half of that European match at Old Trafford and provided the assist for Matheus Cunha to score the decisive goal. That comeback victory stopped a nine-game winless streak across all competitions for the club, easing recent managerial pressure on head coach Michael Carrick.
Carrick was full of praise for the academy product after the game, highlighting his enthusiasm and technical quality. Carrick described him as a great young man with significant ability, stating that Lacey is desperate to do well and plays the game with a bit of mischief.
All five of Lacey’s appearances in the Premier League to date, including two outings this season, have come as a substitute. His only senior start for Manchester United came in the Carabao Cup third round against Brighton back in September.
During that cup tie, Lacey took just eight minutes to open the scoring. However, United were eventually knocked out of the tournament, leaving the teenager to bide his time on the bench until his recent European impact gave Carrick a fresh option for the trip to Villa.
