Nigerian music star Davido has linked up with American gospel legend Kirk Franklin on a fresh collaborative track titled “Hope In You.” The release brings together contemporary gospel music and modern Afrobeats rhythms.
According to Val9ja, the song appears on Franklin’s double album, “I Am What I Am.” The joint effort blends the American artist's choir-focused gospel style with Davido’s recognizable Afrobeats delivery, uniting two distinct music traditions on a single platform.
The broader album consists of 14 tracks divided evenly into seven studio recordings and seven live performances. Aside from Davido, the project includes appearances from several American acts, among them rapper GloRilla, singer Jelly Roll, and recording artist Tobe Nwigwe.
Davido’s involvement in the gospel project comes amid an active run of international and cross-genre releases. Over the years, the DMW boss has released major albums including “A Good Time,” “A Better Time,” “Timeless,” “5ive,” and “Oriadé.”
The singer has also built a strong portfolio of high-profile global team-ups, having previously worked with international musicians such as Chris Brown, Young Thug, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, as well as collaborating with American singer Victoria Monét on “Offa Me.”
With “Hope In You,” Franklin continues his long-standing approach of stepping outside traditional gospel borders to work with mainstream voices, giving Nigerian pop a spot on his latest project.
