Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has officially unveiled a new pedestrian bridge built by the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja. The ceremony took place on Friday following years of waiting by the church to get the required building permit from authorities.
According to Punch, Wike explained during the event that the church first sought permission to erect the bridge back in 2018. The project remained stalled until February 2026, when church authorities submitted a formal reminder, leading to swift clearance within one month.
Wike noted that his administration acted immediately after receiving the follow-up request. He stated that citizens should appreciate public officers when projects succeed, just as they criticise officials whenever expectations are not met. He told the gathering that acknowledging good work encourages better performance from leaders.
Speaking at the event, Dunamis founder Pastor Paul Enenche expressed gratitude to the minister for stepping in. Enenche revealed that the church spent six years trying to secure the necessary authorisation before the administration finally granted it in 2026.
The gathering also featured a lighthearted moment between both figures over public remarks. Wike mentioned that the cleric had cautioned him against turning the commissioning into a political campaign. However, the minister maintained that addressing governance goes hand in hand with politics, pointing out that the pastor also touches on governance issues from the pulpit.
Dunamis International Gospel Centre operates its international headquarters, known as the Glory Dome, along the busy airport road corridor in Abuja. The newly opened bridge is expected to provide safer crossing for church members and residents navigating the highway.
