President Bola Tinubu has approved the selection of six executive directors to serve at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The decision includes a mix of returning officials and fresh hands, according to a report by Premium Times. Three of the individuals selected are returning to their positions through reappointments, while the remaining three are new appointments to the leadership team.
The regulatory agency, known as the NMDPRA, oversees technical and commercial operations in Nigeria's midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors. It was established following the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act to monitor petroleum operations, manage infrastructure licensing, and ensure stable supply across the country.
The appointments come as the federal government continues to strengthen administrative structures across critical sectors of the economy, particularly the energy industry. The newly named officials are expected to take up their responsibilities immediately to drive regulatory policies in the petroleum market.
