Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is preparing to undergo knee surgery after picking up an injury during European club duty, according to Naija News.

The Turkish side Galatasaray announced on Friday that the 26-year-old striker strained his left knee while playing in their UEFA Champions League fixture against German outfit VfB Stuttgart. An MRI scan conducted after the game discovered a loose body inside the joint, making surgical treatment necessary.

Osimhen is booked for an arthroscopic operation on Saturday at the Maslak Acıbadem Hospital. The medical procedure will be handled by Galatasaray's team physician, Dr. Yener İnce.

The injury rules the Nigerian international out of Galatasaray’s upcoming domestic match against Amed S.K. The Turkish club has not yet set a clear timeline for when the attacker will return to full fitness and competitive action.

The setback also delivers a blow to the Nigerian national team ahead of their international schedule. Osimhen is expected to sit out the Super Eagles' upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania, which is scheduled for 13 November and 17 November.

Both club and country will be tracking his recovery closely following the weekend procedure as they look forward to having their leading front man back on the pitch.
