The United States government has announced a reward of up to $20 million for actionable information concerning Iran’s nuclear programme. The offer includes the possibility of relocation for individuals who come forward with vital intelligence, according to Punch.
The announcement was made by the US Central Command through a post on social media platform X. Officials stated that the bounty is being managed under the State Department’s Rewards for Justice programme.
Authorities are seeking credible details regarding Iranian nuclear facilities, equipment, and relevant personnel, particularly individuals within the scientific community. The military urged anyone in possession of such intelligence to visit the programme's official website and submit tips.
The development follows protracted international friction surrounding Tehran's nuclear intentions. In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency noted that Iran had enriched uranium to 60 per cent purity, a threshold closely approaching the 90 per cent level required to build a nuclear weapon.
In June 2025, the US and Israel carried out joint airstrikes aimed at key Iranian nuclear installations. Following those attacks, President Donald Trump stated that the targets had been completely destroyed, though later assessments revealed the infrastructure was degraded rather than entirely eliminated.
A broader military campaign was subsequently launched by the US and Israel on 28 February 2026 to stop Tehran from securing a nuclear weapon. The conflict led to the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at its onset and quickly expanded after Iranian forces launched retaliatory strikes.
The ensuing hostilities severely affected commercial maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz and caused major drops in global crude oil prices.
