Nigeria forward Moses Usor has handed the Super Eagles a major fitness worry ahead of their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania. The attacker walked off injured while playing for Austrian side LASK in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday.
According to Naija News, Usor was substituted in the 75th minute of the match at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz. LASK have not yet released official information explaining the nature or extent of the problem, raising doubts about his readiness for national team selection.
Before leaving the pitch, the 24-year-old played an important role in his team's 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava. Usor swung in the 19th-minute corner kick that Kasper Jorgensen headed home to open the scoring.
Jorgensen scored again later in the game before Samuel Adeniran added to the tally to seal the four-goal victory. The result lifted LASK to 15th position on six points after four matches in the Champions League league phase, while their opponents remain without a single point.
The unexpected injury comes at an awkward moment for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who is expected to announce his squad soon. Nigeria are scheduled to entertain Tanzania in Uyo on Friday, November 13, before flying out for the reverse clash in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, November 17.
The Super Eagles currently hold three points from their first two qualifying fixtures and trail group leaders Guinea-Bissau by three points. Any prolonged absence for Usor would reduce Chelle's attacking alternatives for the critical games.
Usor broke into the national team fold in fine fashion earlier in the campaign. He registered the only goal on his international debut on September 25, sealing a 1-0 victory for Nigeria against Madagascar in Uyo.
His international rise followed a productive 2025 club season with LASK, where he produced 15 goals and provided five assists across 35 competitive appearances. LASK are set to return to continental competition with a trip to face Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday, November 24.
