Tanzania's national team, the Taifa Stars, have arrived in Uyo as they ramp up preparations for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Nigeria.

The early trip to Akwa Ibom State is planned to give head coach Miguel Gamondi ample opportunity to train with his team before the Matchday Three battle, which will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, according to Naija News.

Gamondi picked a 24-man roster to contest the back-to-back matches against the Super Eagles. Domestic clubs dominate the list, with Tanzanian Premier League champions Yanga FC and Azam FC contributing five players each. Singida Black Stars and Kagera Sugar also earned single call-ups.

The squad also features notable overseas professionals. Novatus Miroshi of Turkish top-flight team Goztepe, Cyprian Kachewele from Ukrainian outfit Kryvbas, and Bernard Kamongo, who plays in Major League Soccer for FC Dallas, are all in the mix to challenge Nigeria.

The East Africans are looking to turn their fortunes around after failing to secure a victory during their first two fixtures in the group. They started their campaign on the back foot following a 2-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau and then picked up a 1-1 draw against Madagascar.

Nigeria host the opening leg in Uyo on Friday, November 13. Both teams will travel shortly after to Dar es Salaam for the reverse match, scheduled for Tuesday, November 17.
