Alhaji Abba Abubakar, the son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has officially launched a grassroots movement to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Abba, who heads the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation, visited the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja on Friday to present his group’s political campaign blueprint, according to Politics Nigeria.
The move comes after Abba dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the ruling party, taking a different political path from his father, who remains a leading opposition figure and intends to contest against Tinubu.
Speaking during the presentation, Abba explained that the organisation intends to organise a two-million-man march across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, beginning from Abuja. He noted that the group aims to turn public support into actual ballots on election day by creating disciplined grassroots structures and engaging community leaders.
He added that his group will work closely with the political structure of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to secure victories in both Abuja and Rivers State for the president. Abba noted that the group is already organising an initial mobilisation in Rivers State scheduled for the first week of November.
Beyond the political marches, the organisation plans to roll out an intervention project to assist everyday citizens. Abba announced that the group will provide a starting fleet of 10 luxury buses to reduce commuting difficulties, starting in the nation's capital before extending to other states.
Abba described the transport project as a direct effort to back the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda through practical measures that benefit ordinary people.
Addressing public interest regarding his choice to back Tinubu instead of his father, Abba maintained that his decision represents his personal democratic right. He stressed that individuals should be free to make independent choices and urged others to respect his convictions just as he respects alternative political views.
